Please note:
- that all fees are Euro based, so may fluctuate with the exchange rate. Please contact the Consulate to confirm exact cost in rands. (click for email message, or Tel 031 266 3920)
- that there are two fee components: the Euro visa fee charged by Germany , as well as the ZAR handling/return courier fee charged by the consulate, to facilitate handling via the Embassy in Pretoria.
- Certain fee concessions for direct bank transfers, children, registered travel agents and visa agencies, and spouses of EU citizens may apply as detailed below.

FORMS OF PAYMENT:
We ACCEPT:
- EFT: electronic transfer to our account (a R50 fee reduction will apply)
- CREDIT CARD: VISA or MASTER card (the full fee will apply)
- CASH PAYMENT: on application or deposited (the full fee will apply)
- EURO EFT: only by arrangement to a specified EURO account
We DO NOT ACCEPT:
- CHEQUE: We do not accept cheques either on application or deposited to our account. Should such a deposit nevertheless be made, this will cause a 10 day clearance delay, and a R 50 bank expediting fee will be charged in addition.
- FOREIGN CURRENCY: Only by special arrangement, notes only, converted on the day of payment, and subject to a bank exchange fee of approximately 3%
- POSTAL ORDERS: We do not accept postal orders either on application or deposited to our account. Should such a deposit nevertheless be made, this will cause a 10 day clearance delay, and a R 50 bank expediting fee will be charged in addition.

ELECTRONIC BANK TRANSFERS EFT transfers are acceptable, provided:- they are made at least 2 business days prior to the submission or at the latest on the day of your application
- the original proof of payment accompanies your application
- IMPORTANT: your payment must be referenced with your surname when doing the EFT

PAYMENT CONCESSIONS Under certain circumstances the following fee reductions may apply:
- EFT - electronic bank transfers - a reduction of R 50 to the administrative/return courier fee making it R 210 (instead of 260) per application
- group applications of 8 or more visas - request details when applying and making an appointment
- registered commercial Travel or Visa Agents who submit regular applications and pay by electronic transfer, and further subject to a once off application for accreditation submitted on letterhead to the Consul can qualify for a commercial administrative/return courier fee reduction to ZAR 180 per applicant. Delivery services are acceptable, except where the visa applicant is a first time applicant. See the special notes under the visa requirements section
- "FREE" VISAS (depending on circumstances - the EUR portion only - not the handling/courier fee) may apply to:
- Spouses of EU citizens and their children may have the EUR portion of the visa fee waived if proof of the spouses EU passport is produced, and proof of the marriage by way of an unabridged marriage certificate is also presented. In the absence of either of the above, the fee reduction cannot be granted. The admin/two way courier fee is nevertheless payable.
- Children under 6 years
- Children of EU citizens not travelling on an EU passport, provided an unabridged birth certificate and passport of the EU parent is produced
- Scholars, students and teachers who require the visa for study purposes
- Those professionals who are travelling to the Schengen region for research purposes
- Invitees of German NGO’s and Government structures, depending on circumstances
- Members of foreign diplomatic Embassies,Consulates and certain International Organizations based in Germany, inclusive of members of their direct families
Please note, however, that this fee concession applies to the Euro portion only - not the handling/courier charges. In addition, the full fee may be charged on application, and only refunded should the “free” fee application be successful – in which it is then refunded when collecting the passport. |
